This little bag is just in time for Valentine’s Day. Put your gifts in this cute hold-all and your gift becomes two-in-one!
Using worsted weight (4ply) yarn, 2 colors (A 2 oz, B 1 oz)
Sz J hook
Using color A, ch 15
Rnd 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, 2 more sc in last ch, con. on around sc in back loop of each sc around, make 2 sc in 1st loop of round. Do not turn.
Rnd 2-4: continue on around, sc in each sc around.
Rnd 5: from right side of bag, sc in 7 sc with A, change to B, sc in 8th sc, change back to A, sc around.
Rnd 6: from right side of bag, sc in 6 sc with A, change to B, sc in next 3 sc, change back to A, sc around.
Rnd 7: from right side of bag, sc in 6 sc with A, change to B, sc in next 4 sc, change back to A, sc around.
Rnd 8: from right side of bag, sc in 5 sc with A, change to B, sc in next 6 sc, change back to A, sc around.
Rnd 9-12: from right side of bag, sc in 4 sc with A, change to B, sc in next 8 sc, change back to A, sc around.
Rnd 13: from right side of bag, sc in4 sc with A, change to B, sc in next 4 sc, change to A, sc in 1 sc, change back to B, sc in 4 sc, change to A, sc around.
Rnd 14-17: sc with A around.
Rnd 18: at R side of bag *ch1, sk next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around, fasten off.
Drawstring: With B, ch 60, weave from R side of bag (going from front to back) through each opening around, end on outside. Weave in any loose ends.
Optional Edging: using worsted weight yarn (4ply) and Sz C hook (used on red bag in 2nd photo)
Rnd 1:sc around heart shape on bag, sl st in 1st sc.
Rnd 2: *ch 3 sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, repeat from * around. Sl st to center of 1st ch3.
Rnd 3:ch 1, make 3 ch picot (ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook), *ch 1, sk next sc, sl st in next sc catching in a st from the bag below (this is to make the edging lie flatter and closer to the bag), repeat from * around. End off, weave in loose ends.
This bag, with seasonal variations, is the one I use in the studio to hold the pennies that go to the monthly Penny Jar winner.
