All students deserve rewards….
Hawks’ Music Studio uses a reward system based on points that the students earn for various accomplishments. These points can be “spent” for rewards in the studio Gift Basket.
First, points are given for attending lessons. Next, points are given for selected exercises that are either, not as interesting as doing songs or, are a challenge. Written theory lessons are awarded points also. When a Student writes a
composition they not only receive a large amount of points but they earn their ”Cool Cat” status and their composition appears on their web page within this site.
Plastic grocery bags are used to make some of the student’s rewards so points are given for any bags that the students can bring in. If students attend local concerts, they can write a critique of these productions and submit them for publication in ”The Studio Door” and earn another batch of points. (The Studio Door is in the process of being brought back online).
There are music games that will sometimes be included as part of the lesson that afford students quite a few points.
All their achievements are located by representative icons on their individual pages.Their points levels are shown by the number of points shown: 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000.
During the holidays the students come up the big winners because of the decorations and gifts that are offered in the Gift Basket. Their points go a long way towards their Christmas shopping and during the year, help them out towards birthday gifts, Mother’s Day, Father’s day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc.
Hawks’ Music Studio’s reward system covers all age groups. For the little ones there is the penny jar that they can watch grow as more pennies are put into it. All the pennies represent the finished assignments that were done in the studio that month. Any student who wants to can guess on how many pennies there are and whoever is the closest gets to take all the pennies home. Whoever won will have a revolving penny icon on their page for that month. A rotating penny icon will be displayed on their web page at this site for 30 days proclaiming that they were the winner.
The blue angel, that appears on some pages, shows that that student contributed to the rewards basket and is considered a “studio angel”. Anything that they contribute is given points value. They get the points for giving and other students pay points to take the items from the gift basket.
The Points Board in the studios shows the levels that students have attained according to how many points they have earned from the day they started lessons. Different colors show different levels along with the actual point tally being displayed. Also the board shows a purple cat which designates that student as being a member of the “Cool Cat Club“. To be a member of this club the student has written
a composition and it can be viewed (and soon heard) on their page. There is a purple cat on the board for each composition the student has written. The “Cool Cat Club” icon is a Cheshire cat.
All of this supports the student’s practice efforts and gives them something back for their hard work.
